Custom Auto Wrap was started in 1971 by Jack Custeau. In the beginning, he hand painted pin stripes, race car numbers and local business graphics on cars and trucks. Hand painting evolved into computer cut vinyl. Cut vinyl evolved into digitally printed vinyl. Now cars can be wrapped in any color or with any graphic you want.
In 2011, John Solitare bought the business from Jack. He brought 25 years of sales and marketing experience in the automotive parts and accessories aftermarket. He has grown the business with the help of a team of 6 dedicated and talented installers and designers.
Custom Auto Wrap has always been on the leading edge of the changes in technology in the vinyl graphics industry. As a beta test shop, we have helped 3M develop high quality laminates designed to withstand the harsh Southern California climate. Custom Auto is a PDAA Master certified installation shop and a BBB A+ Accredited business. Custom Auto Wrap prints our wraps on a state-of-the art OKI M-64s large format printer.
You have probably seen our work around town. We have printed and installed graphics on 10 News and Fox 5 news vans and on Univision Radio’s vehicles.
We have also wrapped over 100 food trucks in the last few year. Many of those belong to Moody’s fleet of trucks. Our work is featured at the San Diego Zoo. Just look at the birds on all the Skyfari gondolas. We have wrapped trucks and vans for Birch Aquarium and The Living Coast. And at Sea World, you have seen our wraps on the Sea Doos in the Cirque del Mar show and the trucks at Rescue Jr.
Most of our customers are the local small businesses. We help the plumber or painter design a logo for their first truck. Or, we design partial or full wraps for larger fleets that want more impactful exposure. Over the last few years, the world of vehicle wraps has evolved to include color change wraps. It’s like getting a brand-new paint job. The vibrancy and depth of some of the colors are better than paint.
